Xingye Acquires Atlantic Tin’s Achmmach Project for $85 Million in Moroccan Mining Sector

Khemisset, May 4th, 2025

Chinese mining firm Xingye Silver & Tin Company launched a takeover bid for Atlantic Tin, an Australian developer of the Achmmach tin project in Khemisset, Morocco. The deal, valued at A$130 million (approximately $85 million), targets one of the world’s largest undeveloped tin deposits, crucial for electronics and renewable energy technologies.

Atlantic Tin owns 75% of Achmmach, with Japan’s Toyota Tsusho Corp holding 20% and Nittsetsu Mining Co owning 5%. Xingye offered A$0.24 per share, a 20% premium over Atlantic Tin’s recent share price, prompting shareholder acceptance.

This acquisition enhances China’s influence over tin supply chains in Africa, following Sinoma’s subsidiary establishment in Casablanca on April 28, 2025. The Achmmach project also includes nearby Bou El Jaj and Samine licences, offering significant exploration potential, as per Atlantic Tin’s 2024 scoping study.
