Beijing, April 29th, 2025,
Chinese tech firm Shikong Daoyu, a Geely subsidiary, signed a strategic agreement with Moroccan group Soremar to introduce Geely’s spatial system in North Africa, focusing on Morocco.
The deal, valued at approximately $50 million, aims to establish the Geely Xingzuo network, a constellation of 240 low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites, with 72 satellites already launched by April 2025. This network offers low-latency, multi-band coverage, enhancing navigation, connectivity, and geolocation for industries like transport, logistics, and environmental monitoring.
Soremar, a leader in telecommunications and defense, will provide technical support, including ground stations in Casablanca and Rabat. The first stations are slated for operation in late 2025, positioning Morocco as a regional hub for satellite technology.
This partnership underscores Morocco’s growing appeal for Chinese tech investments, following ZEEKR’s electric vehicle entry on April 17, 2025.
