Chinese automotive giant Zhejiang Geely Holding Group is expanding into Morocco's satellite communications market through its aerospace subsidiary, Geespace. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Casablanca-based Soremar Group to deploy and commercialize GEESATCOM, a low-Earth orbit satellite constellation optimized for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
Geespace, founded in 2018, completed Phase-1 deployment of its satellite network in September 2025. The constellation now operates 64 satellites, providing global coverage capable of handling 340 million daily communications for up to 20 million users.
The partnership leverages Soremar's dominant position in Morocco's marine electronics sector, where it holds over 80% market share. Under the agreement, the companies will collaborate on constellation system testing, market expansion, and applications across transportation, energy, and agriculture sectors. For Morocco's growing electric vehicle industry, reliable satellite connectivity will be essential for smart mobility, precision navigation, and connected vehicle applications.
Geespace's entry into Morocco is part of a broader international strategy that includes partnerships across more than 20 emerging markets, with agreements secured in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh. This operational phase follows the initial strategic framework established in 2025, which we previously covered in our article on the Geely-Soremar partnership.
