Shandong Daye (山东大业), a leading Chinese tire materials producer, last week confirmed a $210 million investment to build a manufacturing plant in Morocco’s Tangier Tech zone, advancing plans first announced in October 2024. Last week’s approval from Chinese authorities marks a key step toward construction, cementing Morocco’s growing industrial stature.
The facility will produce tire bead wire and steel cables, targeting global giants like Michelin and Goodyear. Phase one, set for completion by December 2026, will deliver a 40,000-ton output, with ambitions to scale to 100,000 tons per product line.
Initially unveiled last year as a strategic intent, this confirmation underscores Morocco’s appeal as a cost-competitive hub with proximity to European and US markets.
