New Battery Plant Boosts Morocco’s EV Industry
Jorf Lasfar, June 11, 2025
Tinci Materials Technology has announced a 280 million USD investment to build a gigafactory in Jorf Lasfar, Morocco.
Revealed on June 11, the facility will produce 150,000 tons of lithium-ion battery electrolytes annually, supporting the electric vehicle (EV) sector. The project, overseen by subsidiary Tinci Materials Jorf Lasfar SAS, will span 30,000 square meters and create 200 jobs at full capacity. Construction begins this month, with operations expected by mid-2027.
Tinci, a Shenzhen-listed firm, reported 2024 revenue of 3.1 billion USD. This follows Gotion High-Tech’s 1.3 billion USD gigafactory deal in Kenitra. The plant will enhance Morocco’s 700,000-vehicle annual production, targeting EV growth, using local phosphate resources for European markets.
