Expanding Morocco’s Tire Industry with Strategic Chinese Investment
Kenitra, May 29, 2025
Shandong Yongsheng Rubber Group has announced a new tire factory in Kenitra, Morocco, targeting African, European, and American markets. Filed on May 28, the project will initially produce 6 million semi-steel radial tires annually, scaling to 12 million tires per year by phase three. Construction will begin within six months in the Atlantic Free Zone, a hub hosting over 200 firms.
Shandong Yongsheng, founded in 1986 in Guangrao, exports to over 100 countries with brands like DOUPRO and TRACMAX, and holds a production capacity of 20 million tires annually across its existing plants. This Chinese investment in Morocco leverages the country’s proximity to trade routes and its 1.2 million vehicle production in 2024. The factory will incorporate advanced automation for energy efficiency, aligning with global sustainability trends.
This move follows other Chinese tire investments in Morocco, such as Shandong Daye’s $208.5 million plant in Tangier Tech in 2024.
