Shengtai Zhizao’s $2.3 Billion Push: Morocco’s Textile Surge

Rabat, April 1, 2025

A $2.3 billion deal from China’s Shengtai Zhizao is set to shake up Morocco’s textile scene. Signed on March 20, 2025, it follows Sunrise Group’s $230 million textile investment last week. Here’s the breakdown.

1. The Deal

Shengtai Zhizao, also known as Shengtai Group, will build two factories for yarn and garments, greenlit by PM Aziz Akhannouch. Shareholders vote on April 7, 2025—location still pending.

2. The Numbers

Over five years, expect 100,000 spindles of cotton yarn, 10,800 tons of dyed fabric, 15 million meters of woven textiles, and 22 million garments annually. Plus, a thermal plant and wastewater station for eco-friendly output.

3. The Impact

This could create 8,500 jobs and streamline supply chains, leveraging Morocco’s trade ties with Europe and the US. The textile sector might soar globally.

Final Take

With $2.3 billion and serious scale, Shengtai’s betting big. Morocco’s textile future looks stitched up tight.
