On October 18, 2025, Hong Kong-based Hop Lun Group, a leading lingerie and swimwear manufacturer, announced the acquisition of Moroccan high-end lingerie/swimwear producer Tobago and its factories in Casablanca. This marks Hop Lun’s entry into Africa, expanding its global footprint across Asia, Europe, and now the continent.
Tobago, established in 1993, specializes in premium lingerie and swimwear, employing 200 workers and exporting to Europe and the U.S. The deal, valued at an undisclosed amount, leverages Morocco’s free-trade agreements with the EU and U.S., enabling duty-free access to 2 billion consumers. Hop Lun, founded in 1986, operates 20 factories worldwide and produces for brands like Victoria’s Secret, with 2024 revenue exceeding HKD 5 billion ($640 million). The acquisition includes Tobago’s 10,000 sqm production capacity, focusing on sustainable materials and ethical labor practices.
Morocco’s textile sector, contributing 10% to GDP and employing 250,000, exported $3.2 billion in 2024, with Casablanca as a key hub. This partnership enhances Morocco’s role in high-value apparel manufacturing, fostering trade and innovation.
