Chinese hydrogen technology company Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment (02582.HK) has confirmed a $30 million USD (300 million Moroccan Dirhams) investment to build a 1GW electrolyser manufacturing facility in Morocco.
The announcement coincided with the formal inauguration of the "Joint Center of Excellence in Clean Hydrogen" at the Hassania School of Public Works in Casablanca. The ceremony was overseen by Morocco's Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka. Guofuhee Chairman Wu Pinfang stated the company will deploy an engineering team of over 60 people to support the innovation platform as part of this strategic expansion.
In April 2026, Guofuhee announced a 20MW electrolyser supply deal with its African subsidiary, GF Hydrogen Africa, explicitly linked to the company's plan to establish 1GW of local manufacturing capacity on the continent. In May 2026, the company inaugurated a "PV-Hydrogen Storage-Grid Connection" integrated clean hydrogen demonstration system at EHTP in Casablanca, marking the first such facility in North Africa. The $30 million investment for the 1GW factory was officially announced concurrently.
Morocco represents the most important market for green hydrogen in Africa. The Kingdom has allocated nearly 1 million hectares of land for green hydrogen development with over 20GW of renewable energy capacity. The demonstration system creates a closed-loop energy solution combining green hydrogen production and hydrogen energy storage for electricity generation, serving as a model for large-scale application.
Guofuhee is positioning Morocco as the launchpad for its "technology plus standards plus ecosystem" global expansion strategy, moving from single equipment exports to full industrial ecosystem development.
