Chinese Brake Giant APG Confirms $70 Million Tangier Plant Opening by End of 2026

Chinese automotive components manufacturer Zhejiang Asia-Pacific Mechanical & Electronic (APG) has confirmed that its first overseas industrial facility will open in Morocco before the end of 2026, with an investment of $70 million USD (approx.. 700 million MAD) .

The plant will be located within Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City, producing brake systems and electronic chassis control technologies primarily for European markets and international automakers. This marks APG's first factory outside of China.

APG project manager Cai Junjie stated that the plant will combine local labor and materials with Chinese components and technology. "We can procure what we need near factories in Europe at competitive prices," Cai told the Financial Times.

The strategic rationale for choosing Morocco includes the country's geographical proximity to Europe, reduced logistics costs, competitive production costs, and free trade agreements providing preferential access to European markets.

APG's arrival in Tangier Tech reinforces Morocco's position as a strategic manufacturing hub for the global automotive industry. The industrial platform now hosts multiple Chinese auto sector players, including tire manufacturer Sentury Tire and battery materials company BTR New Material Group.
