On July 28, 2025, in Shanghai, China’s Wuhu Bethel Automotive Safety Systems Co., Ltd., led by Chairman Yuan Yongbin, announced a MAD 700 million ($71 million) investment for a wholly-owned subsidiary in Kenitra’s Atlantic Free Zone, Morocco.

The facility, Wuhu Bethel Morocco Automotive Safety Systems, will produce 500,000 brake and steering units annually for automakers like Tesla and Volkswagen. This new project, finalized without a prior MoU, creates 300 high-skill jobs, with construction starting in 2025 and production by 2026.

Morocco’s automotive sector, producing 570,000 vehicles in 2023 and employing 180,000, accounts for 30% of industrial exports, as confirmed by Minister Ryad Mezzour. With 600,872 vehicles exported via Tanger Med in 2024, Bethel’s investment supports Morocco’s trade and innovation in automotive safety technology.
